SCHEDULE
-
NEW
IN 2010…DLH
will host two preseason, informational meetings for players and
parents. Time and place TBD.
-
Tryouts take place
in late February (9U-13U) and late March (14U-16U).
-
NEW
IN 2010…Teams
will be selected by coaches and a group of evaluators during three days
of OPEN tryouts.
-
Coaches usually keep 10-12 girls per team.
-
There are usually at least two teams selected per age
group and possibly up to four teams formed depending on number and
skill level of players.
-
Teams will generally practice twice a week around the
greater
Dayton
area based on where the coach or players have access to gym time.
-
Games are played by entering tournaments that take place
on weekends.
-
NEW
IN 2010…DLH
is creating suggested schedules for all DLH teams. This process will
hopefully reduce tournament entry fees and also allow multiple teams to
travel to similar tournaments. Ultimately, each team schedule remains
up to each individual coach/team.
-
Most teams will play between eight and twelve
tournaments for the season.
-
All DLH teams are required to participate in the Ohio
AAU State Championship and the AAU Division I National Championship
if the team qualifies.
-
DLH will host two tournaments during the 2010 season.
-
AAU Super
Regional –
April 9-11, 2010 (10U-16U)
-
12U & 14U AAU
Ohio State –
May 21-23, 2010
-
DLH believes it is very important for teams to stay in
the same hotel when traveling to tournaments.
NEW
IN 2010…DLH
will develop a travel page for the organization listing directions
to gyms, hotel options including room blocks, and potential
activities and/or sight-seeing opportunities.
EXPENSES
·
2010 DLH
participation fees are being finalized, stay tuned for additional
details
·
As a
guideline, 2009 team participation fees ranged from $400-$700
·
This fee
COVERS team expenses such as:
o
coach’s
expenses (hotels and general travel expenses)
o
tournament entry fees
o
practice
gym time (this could significantly impact your team expenses)
o
team
incidentals such as postage, copying paperwork, etc.
·
This fee
DOES NOT COVER:
o
players/family travel expense, hotel rooms or meals
o
uniform
or apparel items
-
NEW
IN 2010…Look
for some great additions to the DLH Program this season that
increase the value received from the participation fees.
-
DLH provides one of the best values in all of
spring/summer basketball programs. Many other basketball programs
and most other club sports programs charge $1,000 or more for the
same features and benefits.
-
After tryouts are completed, teams will collect a team
fee from each player determined by the coach based on number of
players on the team, cost of practice facilities, tournament fees,
coaches travel expenses and any other team expenses.
EXPECTATIONS
-
It takes many
people to make this organization successful. Each team will need a
parent to handle each of the following: uniform disbursement,
apparel ordering and disbursement, travel arrangements, team
treasurer, tournament worker scheduler, and anything else the coach
would need help with.
-
Every DLH family is expected to work at our Super
Regional and the 12U/14U teams will be expected to work at the State
Tournaments we host.
-
LET COACHES COACH!
-
DO NOT EMBARRASS
YOURSELF, YOUR DAUGHTER, OR DLH!
